What a way to start the season

My first official blog entry and here I am, in Illinois, in Chicago, jobless after 31 years with the same company.

But I can count my blessings as I read the papers and see that I am not alone and there is a bright light at the end of what I hope is a relatively short tunnel. President-Elect Obama is readying to hit the ground running with his economic proposals which I hope will in turn help me and all of my unemployed Americans.

In the meantime…

Look what the Chicago City council and Mayor Daley just did to help us along the way. Beginning January 1, 2009, neighborhood parking meters will be $1.00 an hour, maybe 24/7 with NO holiday free parking! Thanks to our brave leaders you can rest assured that I will be going to a nearby suburban mall with FREE PARKING to do my shopping, as well as not having to pay an extra 5 cents a bottle for water.

Not only that…

Looks like Governor Blago is soon to join the ranks of the unemployed as well, attempting to sell the Senate seat to the highest bidder. Oh well, looks like I will have plenty to write about on this blog as there is always something cooking in the Windy City. Lived here all my life and it seems that it is true that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Do not get me wrong, as you will be reading there are many great things this city has to offer, it’s just that you have to afford them. Will be coming back soon with more observations and comments, in the meantime, have a great day, one and all.
