Our Anniversary
Today, January 12, 2009, I celebrate my 35th year of marriage. I still remember the coldest day of the year in 1974 when we took the red line to Chicago’s City hall with two of our dearest friends, one of whom died all too young, and had the judge pronounce us man and wife.
It seems like only yesterday but it was a long, strange trip, as the Grateful dead are quick to remind us, and the “trip” is far from over. Through all the years and trials, tribulations, good and great times, I have grown to love even more than the day that I said “I do” in front of the judge and our witness/friends.
This just shows that there is so much more to life when you actually look for it. It amazes me how time flies and how much more there is to accomplish.
Hey, I can’t say too much more than that, other than I love my wife.
She is enduring a terrible cold right now and I am taking care of her needs, as they say “in sickness and in health”. She has never failed to do the same for me. Take care, one and all.
I will be looking for work again this week once my wife is better. I think that would be a great anniversary present for both of us.
