Baby, it’s too cold outside

Car won’t start.

Need to take care of business so I bundle up with several layers of clothing and prepare to make my trek to what I have to do. On the hunt for work.

It wouldn’t be so bad if there weren’t SO MANY others in front and behind me looking as well. Heard yesterday Motorola just laid off 4,000 more people, that’s on top of the 3,000 that were laid off in December. Even the search site google is laying off, the same with the popular auction website ebay. Every business seems to be hit by this blizzard of bad economic conditions.

Almost 150,000 businesses closed last year, and the projections for this year doesn’t seem any better, as the economists predict that at least 73,000 more businesses are on the chopping block for the first 6 months of this year. That is a lot of lost wages for the working men and women and a lot of taxes that will not be collected by the State and Federal government. What a vicious cycle this creates.

Undaunted, I strive to rise to the top with a certain plan of action to continue my work ethic and find an occupation that is in demand even during these hard and uncertain economic times.

I have seriously made a commitment to attempt to gain an education in a field of medical care that would require some college that could be attained through a voucher and would fill a desperate need as well. A field in clerical, lab or a medical assistant would keep me employed no matter where I would live, either here in Chicago or nationwide. That, as is my understanding, is how rich the opportunies in the field are.

Needless to say, at this present time, however, I definitely would opt for any form of employment that offered a reasonable pay structure and benefits. City, State or Federal jobs, anything sable that would keep me employed is suitable. Work being the operative word here. I have been a loyal worker for 31 years and it would be easy to offer my talents, knowledge and experiences to another company looking for a stable and steady hand that can grasp the dynamics of their operation.

The sun is rising as I can see the clouds that are hiding it getting brighter. The temperature has climbed 8 degrees t -17. Time for me to prepare for the jobs at hand.

Wishing one and all a great day and weekend and those also looking for a job the best of luck and good fortune.
